Before I start reviewing the movie, let me at least tell you what is actually this movie story about, so you guys will know what kind of movie is this.
The name of the movie is 20th Century Girl that is about Na Bo Ra which is a bright, lively and kind 17 years old high school student. Her family owns the local video store and her best friend, Yeon Du is travelling for heart surgery in the United States. However, Bo Ra best friend has assigns her a mission which Yeon Du has admits to being in love with a boy from school and she wants to know everything about him while she is abroad. As a faithful buddy, Bo Ra doing a lot of investigation for her best friend. The boy who Yeon Du in love is named Baek Hyun-Jin. However, she becomes involved with Hyun-Jin best friends, Poon Woon-Ho.
However, in order to
discover more about Hyun-Jin, Bo Ra accidentally catches his attention and ask
her out. She rejects him, as any decent friend would. Instead, it’s finally
launches into a beautiful love story involved Bo Ra and Woon-Ho. It all comes
crashing down as Bo Ra begins her first love affair with Woon-Ho. Then, Yeon Du
returns from abroad and informs Bo Ra her crush is Woon-Ho….. Okay I’ll stop
here because of course I want you guys to go watch it asap, so that you will know what
it’s really happening next.
Finally, let me start reviewing this movie! Basically, for me this movie includes a devastating twist that crushes our heart. It’s narrative about first love, the ups and downs that come with it as it clashes with friendship and eventually about being truthful with ourselves. Not only that, the love tale through Woon-Ho eyes wow it’s stabs in my heart. I was very amaze with Bo Ra that willingly try to let her feelings go to keep their strong friendship. It quickly depicts the genuine essence of their friendship. But then, when Yeon Du argues that a male ought to never come among them and that Yeon Du would willingly to give up Woon-Ho if it meant for Bo Ra happiness. Here, it shows that Yeon Du displyas her commitment and affection for her one and only best friend. If it’s me, I would rather sacrifice it so that she can be the happiest girl because happiness can get anywhere and that’s not the only guy in this world right HAHAHAHA.
After all,
at this age which we begin to mature ourselves. There is either and exaggerated
sense of obligation or complete irresponsibility. Even when we do think of
others, we may not always understand what they are saying. Just imagine, you
falling in love at this time and it’s both puzzling and of course so thrilling.
As I know, at this age, we don’t truly understand why we love someone, if we
ever do. For example, it works like this, you like me, so I like you HAHAHAHA.
You feel butterflies in your stomach as you look into the eyes of someone you
did never think of again. So, that’s what Bo Ra is facing up which she was only
trying to aid a friend but then she discovered something on herself. For sure,
you can see that Bo Ra is a pure hearted young girl who puts others ahead
first.
Beside, this movie is
supported with 90’s relics such as VHS cassettes, pagers and public phone
booths while certain sequence evoke memories of some of the era’s most popular
K-pop videos and TV dramas. Through the whole movie, I would say that the plot
it’s beyond my expectation and it’s for sure an amazing movie to watch because
it is so heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. For sure, their love
story absolutely pure and innocent.
So what are you waiting for, add it to your watch list. Now, it's NETFLIX TIME !!
